AGINNER - Someone who vehemently opposes a plan, legislation or change.
CARPETBAGGER - a nonresident who meddles in politics.
CHICKEN HAWK - aggressively pro-war person who has never served in the military, usually because of some kind of deferment.
COCKALORUM - a self-important, weak or little man.
DARK HORSE - one who achieves unexpected support and success as a political candidate, typically during a party’s convention.
DEMAGOGUE - a leader who gains popularity by using emotional arguments instead of rational ones.
DOPESTER - a person who attempts to predict the outcome of an election.
DRACONIAN - someone extremely harsh and severe.
EGALITARIAN - one asserting a belief that we are all equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities.
EMPLEOMANIAC - some with an obsessive mania for running and holding public office.
FLUSH-BOTTOM - wealthy contributor.
HIGHBINDER - person who engages in fraudulent or shady activities; specifically : a corrupt or scheming politician.
HOI POLLOI - the common people or masses.
HUFF AND SNUFF - (with both denoting "anger") a fierce, bullying person. A conceited man who gives himself airs and is quick to take offense. He scoffs loudly at others, but remains entirely oblivious to his own misdeeds.
ICONOCLAST - a person who attacks your cherished beliefs like your political opinions.
MUGWUMP - one who is unable to make a decision on a candidate or an issue in a political election.
MUMPSIMUS - person who obstinately adheres to old customs or ideas, in spite of evidence that they are wrong or unreasonable.
NOD-CRAFTY - someone who is "given to nodding their head with an air of great wisdom that they don't actually have.
OBSTRUCTIONIST - one that hinders progress: one that deliberately and often by indirect or delaying tactics obstructs business (as in a legislative body).
PALADIN - a determined advocate or defender of a noble cause.
PANJANDRUM - a self-important or pretentious official.
PETTIFOGGER - one engaging in trickery, avarice or immoral and deceitful behavior unbecoming of the political office.
POLICY WONK - a person who develops government policy with a keen interest in technicalities and process. Increasingly used to refer to a political individual with no direct experience of the real world.
POLITICASTER - a petty or contemptible politician.
PONTIFICATE - one who presents their views and opinions as if they are the expert and everyone else is wrong.
PUISSANT - one with great power or influence.
QUOCKERWODGER - a pseudo-politician who has his marionette strings pulled by somebody else rather than his constituents.
RASPUTIN - any person who exercises great but insidious influence.
SLUMGUZZLER - one engaging in deceptive or fraudulent behaviour.
SNOLLYGASTOR - a politician who will go to any lengths to win public office, regardless of party affiliation or platform.
STEMWINDER - someone who gives great, impassioned speeches. Originally a person or event of exceptional character.
THROTTLEBOTTOM - a harmless incompetent in public office.
TIREKICKER - a politician who discusses and debates but takes no action (from car sales where a person examines a car at length but does not buy it).
VOX POPULI -the voice of the people
WHIP - party member who ensures all other members are resent for a vote and their votes are in accordance with the party line

PERLOCUTIONARY - producing a reaction of a listener of a speech; persuading or causing a listener to to take action.
PECULATE - to steal or take money or public funds dishonestly.
PLUTOCRACY - the the rule or power of the wealthy.
POLEMIC - a verbal or written attack, especially of a belief or dogma.
POTEMKIN - a political device or tactic which gives the impression that a situation is better than it really is.
PREROGATIVE - a right or privilege that is exclusive to a particular person, group, class or association.
PREVARICATE - to avoid telling the truth by directly avoiding the question.
PROBITY - following the principles of truth, honesty and integrity.
PSEPHOLOGY - the scientific study and statistical analysis of elections and voting.
RAPPROCHEMENT- an establishment of harmonious relations.
REDINTEGRATE - to make whole again, restore to a better state.
REDISTRICTING - a process in which the physical boundaries of a voting district are change.
ROORBACK - a false, dirty, or slanderous story used for political advantage, usually about a candidate seeking political office.
