Language Can Make You Laugh
Language has a funny bone and this list will tickle yours. It’s full of wacky or whimsical words that you would probably either delight in using them or be embarrassed if you got caught using them.
First, some definitions:
- WITTY: showing or characterized by quick and inventive verbal humor.
- WHIMSICAL: playfully quaint or fanciful, especially in an appealing and amusing way.
- WACKY: funny or amusing in a slightly odd or peculiar way.
- STRANGE: unusual or surprising in a way that is unsettling or hard to understand.
I call them…..a WACKY WORD WALL

CROODLE - to cuddle or nestle together
DORNICK- a small rock that is easy to throw
DESCRY - to catch sight of
GUISARD - someone who wears a mask
HIDEBOUND - someone with a rigid opinion; narrow minded
HOI POLLOI - the common people, masses
INCONNU - someone unknown; a stranger
INUTILE - of no use
JANNOCK - someone who is honest or fair
KEEK - to peep, look fervently
LICKSPITTLE - someone who is contemptible or fawning; a servile flatterer
LIRIPOOP - a smart trick or a silly person
LIONIZE - kissing up to someone like they are a celebrity
LIVY-LIVERED - someone who lacks courage
MAKEBATE - someone who who causes contention or discord.
MICKLE- great, large or much
MILQUETOAST - someone who is timid, shy, unassertive and easily intimidated.
MODISH - stylish
MULLIGRABS - grumpy or ill tempered
MULTITUDINOUS- something of great number
NABOB - someone wealthy and powerful
NATTER- to talk incessantly
NOMONYM - a good that tastes like another food
NOWT- nothing
NUGACITY - triviality, insignificant
ORT - a small bit of food left over, a scrap or a morsel
PERAMBULATOR - a baby carriage
PIGGESNYE - someone who is pretty but not especially bright; a cuckooflower
PLISKY - a practical joke
POSTICHE- a false hairpiece
PRINK - to fuss over yourself in the mirror
QUAQUAVERSAL - sloping downward from the center of all directions
QUISQUILIAN - trashy
RIPSNORTER - something remarkably good or exciting
SAGITTATE - something shaped like an arrowhead
SAXICOLINE - living or growing among rocks
SCURRYFUNGER - someone who rushes around cleaning before someone else comes over
SIPPIT- small piece of bread for dipping in an oil, gravy or milk
SKOOKUM - excellent, first- rate
SKOSH- a small amount of something
SMACKEROO- a wet, noisy kiss
SNAP - a packed lunch or snack
SOCKDOLAGER - unusually large
SPOONY - foolishly sentimentally amorous
SQINY - an inviting glance
SQUIZ - a quick, close look
STICKYBEAK- someone who is a meddler; a busybody
STURNUTATION - the act of sneezing
SUDORIFEROUS - the act of sweating
SWISH - impressively smart or fashionable
TATTERDEMALION - ragged or unkempt
TUB-THUMPER - someone who expresses opinions voraciously
TUMMLER - lively, prankish, mischievous or mean
VOGIE - someone who is conceited or proud
WHIFFLER - someone who keeps changing their opinions
WHIZZO - another word for excellent
WITHERSHINS - counterclock
WAS IT WITTY, WACKY, WHIMSICAL or FUN?
